Website Development

Every website project is different. The client, business type, location and customers define a unique set of needs. Other considerations include cost, functionality, reliability and expandability.

Simple Webmaster will help you find the right solution. From selecting a platform that underlies the website through designing, building and launching the completed website.

Website Portfolio

Below are some websites I have developed for clients. Each website is built from scratch to suit specific needs. I do not use pre-built templates or page builder websites. I work with different website platforms depending on the clients’ needs.

Found Rental Co

Found Rental Co is a pioneer in vintage furniture rentals. Jeni Maus started Found in 2010 and has grown the business to over 100 employees and three locations in Southern California, Northern California and Arizona. With over 30,000 items in inventory, Found needs a robust and easy-to-navigate website.

I have worked with Found since 2012 as their web developer. Initially, their site was built in WordPress and their early online store was developed using WooCommerce. As the company grew and increased online sales, the website was migrated to Shopify. Found’s website serves as both rental catalog and online store, as well as an active blog covering weddings and events.

Elemental Superfood

The Elemental Superfood website was built from scratch using a client supplied layout, sitemap and images. The client requested the BigCommerce ecommerce system. Responsive design was used throughout, along with various integrations including an Instagram feed, Jotform contact and wholesale forms, Mailchimp email signup and a store locator. This is an example of a site where the client had very specific instruction and vision which made my work easy and the end product reflects this.

I work with clients of all sizes, from owner/operator companies to medium-size businesses. As a freelancer I have a range of experience to help almost anyone seeking a website. If you want to learn more about my process, see what to expect working with a web developer.

Website Platforms

I work with many website platforms, but a majority of sites fall under two categories: content sites and ecommerce sites. The content websites typically use a content management system such as WordPress that allows the client to edit and manage website content without learning how to code. The other type of website is an ecommerce site where physical products or services are sold online. If your business is primarily looking to do online retail, you should consider a specialty ecommerce platform such as Shopify.

What about Wix, Squarespace and other site builder platforms? I have worked on client sites built with these platforms, but their limited features become a problem when it comes to customization and expandability. Other than the most basic site, these are not a good base for a business website. Not only do they tend to look unprofessional, they end up costing more in the long run since their monthly fees can be higher than running WordPress on a web hosting service.

Simple Webmaster prefers to develop using the following platforms. Learn more about each one below:
